Detroit’s Newest Foot Locker is Now Open for Business

The newest Foot Locker store in Detroit is now open for business. The new state-of-the-art store opened on September 13, 2019, and is reflective of Foot Locker North America’s strategy of moving away from traditional mall-based retail spaces and into unique, community-centered retail spaces. First Commercial Realty & Development turned possession of the newly constructed 6,500 square foot building, located at 15234 West Grand River Avenue, over to Foot Locker, Inc. (NYSE: FL) earlier this summer, replacing the long-operating Foot Locker store located in the adjacent building at the northeast corner for Grand River Avenue and Whitcomb.

Located in the Greenfield and Grand River retail corridor -which boasts a strong presence of national and regional chains including Foreman Mills, Rainbow, Villa, J-Bees, VIP Wear, Shoe Time and more- the new store represents the first phase of a three-phase redevelopment of the ~1.75 acre parcel, which has been owned by FCRD since 1999. The remaining two buildings (Phase 2 and Phase 3, respectively) will be developed in the near future.

When completed, the site will be a beacon of the ongoing redevelopment of the Grand River Corridor, and will feature retail throughout three freestanding buildings with frontage along Grand River Avenue.
