Growing the First Commercial Business

Reacting to an upturn in our construction business, First Commercial is proud to announce the expansion of its construction department to include general contracting throughout the Midwest. First Commercial now offers brokerage property management, development, general contracting, and construction management services.

As a result of this new undertaking the construction division has completed projects in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Missouri. Recent clients include Slim Genics, Yummy Cupcakes, Edible Arrangements, Brightside Academy, and Elements Therapeutic Massage.

First Commercial’s relationship with Elements Massage began when they signed a lease at a company owned property in Birmingham, MI. Elements then awarded the general contracting bid to First Commercial and was very impressed with the timeliness and high quality of workmanship provided. They subsequently requested the construction department for other new Elements locations, providing First Commercial the ability to bid on general contracting projects out of state. First Commercial successfully won the bids on jobs in Birmingham, MI, Park Ridge, IL, Western Springs, IL, Glenview, IL, St. Louis, MO, and Avon, OH.

These projects are in retail centers with an average size of 2,000 square feet. First Commercial employs local companies and contractors to perform the construction duties and the average time for completion of the job is approximately seven weeks.

Through these new third party business opportunities, First Commercial has been able to diversify and grow into a new part of the industry outside of the typical brokerage and property management divisions. Our Construction Manager, Carol Malloy, leads the team ensuring that all new projects are handled accurately and with the highest level of professionalism. Construction Supervisor, Bill Cox, oversees the field operations.
